The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is one of America's leading urban public libraries. Since opening their doors over 100 years ago, the Library has grown to serve more than one million residents in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

We helped make the library experience easier, more flexible and relevant.

The Library provides the Mecklenburg community with a wealth of information and services. With the growth of technology and smartphone usage, the Library’s team noticed an increasing demand for digital resources. They saw a unique opportunity to provide greater access to information and improve the experience for their visitors.

"With better technology integration, we’re offering customers the ease and flexibility we know they seek, also they can be free to learn and explore, no matter how they’re interacting with their library."

A feature-rich iOS app

The Solution

Through close collaboration over a fast-moving four-month project, we designed and developed a feature-rich iOS app.

The app makes classic and digital library resources available through the experience. It includes a virtual library card and uses iBeacon indoor proximity technology that notifies visitors to learn more about Library services and resources as they walk around the facility.
