Charlotte is getting a Major League Soccer (MLS) team in 2021, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Charlotte has a special place in our hearts. (Skookum’s founders met at UNC Charlotte, and Method still has an office located there.) So, when our team was approached to build and launch a website to promote Charlotte’s new MLS team, we were more than excited to be a part of this historical moment for our hometown.

Charlotte: The Perfect Soccer City

“The Queen City” has a long history of local soccer support. It’s hosted multiple matches that drew crowds in the tens of thousands, including a 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup doubleheader that brought in 60,000 fans. The area also plays host to numerous youth soccer tournaments and leagues, including the 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase.

And, it already has a stadium that’s ready to go: Bank of America Stadium, where the Panthers currently play.

Put Us In, Coach!

David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers, will also be the owner of the Charlotte MLS team. Passionate about Charlotte and soccer (he coached it for 9 years), David was ready to make the leap and grab what may be the MLS’ last expansion team for awhile. But to seal the deal, the City of Charlotte had to approve funding to renovate Bank of America stadium. While waiting for the green light, Tepper Sports & Entertainment wanted to build a site quickly and discreetly so it would be ready to launch as soon as the team got the go-ahead. Method was up for the challenge.

“I’ve made clear for a long time that I have two goals as a team owner: sustained winning on the field and making a difference in the community. These will be our goals with Charlotte’s MLS team, and the work begins today.” – David Tepper

In a three-week sprint, our team planned, designed, and developed the Charlotte MLS website. It’s ready for major traffic spikes (like the day the team was announced) and has hosted more than 20,000 season ticket deposit transactions for the 2021 season so far.

Method is thrilled about the team and honored to be a part of the future of Charlotte’s sports community. Check out the new website to learn more about the team and reserve tickets.
