OverviewProject Managers lead Method’s delivery efforts on projects for our clients. They understand and support the identification of client needs and goals, work with Principals or Directors in client services, and the pursuit team to establish the project approach and scope of work, develop and manage effective project work plans given the work effort, and oversee the team in delivering a quality solution, on time and on budget. They manage the quality of our client relationship day to day, direct the project team and provide both outstanding leadership and service to our customers, and lead the project team in the execution of the best quality delivery the team can achieve within project constraints. They manage the work breakdown structure and tasks that lead to project execution, for both client and project team members. The Project Manager provides leadership – through smart decision-making, strong project planning and oversight, and outstanding communication skills – to both the project team and the client. The Project Manager guides the project team in decision-making around the project, anticipating and mitigating risks, and leveraging the expertise and talent of both the core project team (and any extended team members, as needed) and their own knowledge of the project and client. A Method project manager works to deliver an outstanding client experience – the experience of working with savvy, focused, smart, fun, talented people who are dedicated to delivering great solutions to our customers.
Primary ResponsibilitiesClient Service
- Deliver an outstanding level of customer service.
- Establish a relationship of trust and credibility with the client as Method’s main point of contact on a project.
- Establish and promote the value of Method’s work and team to clients through thoughtful communications and advice within the project.
- Actively support the development of strong relationships between multiple client and multiple Method team members, while directing the project and remaining the hub of project communications.
Client Management
- Clearly communicate the project work plan as well as assumptions to the client.
- Educate clients about the Method work process and deliverables, and help the client provide effective and meaningful input to both the process and deliverables.
- Lead the client towards acceptance of final deliverables through appropriate project reviews and interim deliverables, and facilitate constructive dialog about our progress against our goals.
Project Management
- Manage the project team to deliver quality on-strategy work that supports a premium position for Method in our market place and long-term relationships with our customers.
- On a daily basis, guide the team towards effectively solving the client’s problems and responding appropriately to client needs.
- Work with the team to provide multiple solutions and to see challenges from different angles.
- Help the team maintain a positive attitude and a commitment to quality work.
- Escalate concerns and request assistance from the Principal or Director of Client Services (or extended team) to keep the project team on track or resolve disputes about priorities.
- As client needs change, tune and evolve project work plans to continue to guide projects to successful delivery.
- Work proactively with the Principal or Director of Client Services to identify opportunities or requirements to modify project scope and lead clients towards smart solutions and modified work plans.
- Manage resource assignments to the project, proactively identify resource challenges and work with the GM and VP Client Services to mitigate resource constraints through creative scheduling and by occasionally helping to source contract help.
- Help the project team anticipate, understand, and evaluate client feedback. Direct the project team to have effective partnerships and appropriate dialogs with customers and coach team members on how to handle difficult client situations, lead them through these situations.
Project Communications
- Maintain a current project work plan for the client and project team at all times.
- Establish appropriate client meeting schedules, manage agendas, and direct meetings to achieve project goals.
- Lead weekly internal project team meetings in which the team learns about client needs and responses and in which the team actively problem solves for future risks.
- Facilitate collaboration through excellent communication about the project, and schedule appropriate internal interim reviews and meetings to help disciplines problem solve together.
- Deliver weekly project status updates for the client and the project team.
- Manage an archive of project-related documentation and deliverables.
- Publish meeting notes after all client meetings and if appropriate after internal meetings. Actively document project progress, secure sign-off and acceptance of deliverables, and maintain a project file of key documentation.
- Manage a list of action items for the client and the project team.
Financial Management
- Regularly monitor the project budget to keep it in scope and on budget and report on budget in weekly project status meetings. Monitor budget versus scope and escalate concerns about budget and scope to the Principal or Director of client services early. Actively partner to determine whether to adjust work efforts, adjust budget goals, or request additional resources from clients.
Business Development
- As part of an opportunity pursuit team, support Method’s business development efforts by representing the project management discipline and our project work plans to customers. Communicate the value of Method’s project management approach and our project teams.
- Develop task, staffing, and time estimates during proposal generation.
- Work with business development and the client services team to identify client needs and constraints. In response to those needs, develop project work plans that will allow Method to deliver high quality work within those constraints.
- Work with business development and the client services team to effectively constrain our solution with appropriate assumptions and scope statements, subsequently actively manage scope with client throughout the project in order to deliver great quality on budget and on time.
- Actively partner with the Principal or Director of Client Services to enhance the customer relationship long term and identify new work opportunities.

Qualifications- College education or commensurate level of writing and critical thinking skills required.
- 3 - 4 years of solid job experience as a project manager in a professional service environment, experience in a design studio, interactive agency, or marketing communications firm preferred.
- Proven track record of developing project plans and overseeing projects to successful execution.
- Experience with project planning methods, processes, terminology and practices required, (PMP or other active learning a plus).
- Demonstrable experience working with customers on multiple projects and supporting growth of customer relationships.
- Strong MS Word and MS Excel skills required. Experience with a presentation application (Keynote or Powerpoint) required. Experience with Project Management software (MS Project) required.
- Facility with email, instant messenger, and internet-based communications required.
- Proven organizational skills. Outstanding attention to detail.
- A high degree of polish in both written and verbal communications.
- Proof reading skills required.
- Experience writing portions of proposals, experience playing a supporting role in new business development.
- Track record for working in a team-based, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- The ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities.
- Experience managing interactive projects required.
